I was born and raised in New Orleans, Louisiana but I got to Austin as soon as I could. All of my children were born here so I consider myself almost a native, even though I haven’t totally lost my “NooAwlins” accent. I graduated Magna Cum Laude from St. Edward’s University with a Bachelor of Arts in Photography in 1984. Along the way, I accumulated a number of honors, including being recognized in Who’s Who in American Universities and being named Outstanding Photography Student for 1984. During my undergraduate years, I was also editor of the yearbook. In 1987, I went to graduate school at The University of Texas and graduated in 1991 with a Master of Fine Arts degree in Photography. I am a past president of Texas Photographic Society, a past vice-president of Lone Star Photographic Workshops and a past director of PhotoWork Gallery in Austin. I served as Director of Photography for the Texas House of Representatives from 1996 to 2003. In 2001 I returned to my alma mater, St. Edward’s University, to teach digital photography. Over the past twenty years, my photographs have received numerous awards and honors. My artwork is owned by permanent museum collections in France, Mexico and Texas. My photographs have been published in Third Coast, Landscapes, Texas Hill Country Magazine, Nursing Today and Texas Monthly. I have been photographing weddings in Austin since 1984.
