1026photography is all about capturing your moments.1026photography was born about 5 years ago. My best friend and i would always talk about how we would love to open our own photography business someday. It was a huge dream that two broadcast videographers had, that i never thought would come true. Years have past since that first discussion and here we are now. After graduating from college and landing a job in Ellsworth Maine as a photographer for a local news station WABI. I started to figure out exactly where i fit in, in all of this media madness. I always knew that i loved photography, but i still wasn’t sure if videography was for me. I did however begin to understand how deeply i had a passion for still photography. While there is not a lot to do in Bar Harbor/Ellsworth Maine, there are plenty of chances for pictures. The landscape is beautiful and the people are so interesting and have the best stories. I would often pick up my Nikon FM10 and go and just look for moments. From Ellsworth i traveled to Portland Maine. I worked again as a photographer/editor/live truck operator at WGME News 13. I worked as the Daybreak photographer for 2 years. I have to say, while the hours are horrid (3am-to whenever they decided to free me….There is nothing more fulfilling than seeing a sunrise over the ocean. Or just the sheer peacefulness that is around you that early. And so it was that my passion for photography grew. I eventually became burnt out of the news business. Not so much photography, but the news really puts a damper on your soul. You experience loss, rage, abuse, happiness, sadness…pretty much every range of emotion you can think of, is what a news crew feels at some point during the week and the after effects of it can creep into you and stew until you one day look around and think…who am I? Where have I gone? So i left, and was lucky enough to go on to the next part of my career. I moved to Beverly Mass and landed at job at Emerson College. I teach aspiring journalists how to do what i did for 5 years. Its so fulfilling to see them learn and to see them excited about the things that are in their future. And for me it has opened so many doors. I was able to start a family and really begin the big journey of 1026photography. I have been able to take all that i have learned in news and apply it to my passion of still. I am a people person. I know how to talk to people (that includes little ones). If there is one thing i have learned its that you need to get the person comfortable with being in front of a big camera. And i’d like to say its a practice that i have refined. So what is 1026photography, its a path to who you are as a person. Its about the moments in your life that have led you to where you are today. The experiences you have had and the people that you have met have shaped who you are as in individual and that is what i like to document. Natural Moment Photography.
