History Dayâ??s Jewelers was founded in 1914 by Captain Harry Davidson, whose ill health forced him to abandon a life at sea. The first Dayâ??s was a small pawn shop/auction center located in the Old Port of Portland Maine. Shortly thereafter, Captain Davidson was joined in the business by his three sons. During the ensuing 30 years, the Davidson brothers opened 21 Dayâ??s stores throughout northern New England. Dayâ??s quickly became one of the most formidable jewelry store chains on the East Coast. In 1988, at ages 80 and 75 respectively, Sidney and David Davidson, the remaining owners of Dayâ??s, decided to retire. They searched for new owners that would carry on their tradition of value, outstanding quality merchandise, and top level customer service. They found their new owners in Jeff, Jim, and Kathy Corey, and Mark Ford. Jeff and Jimâ??s father, Robert Corey, had worked for David and Sidney for several years before co-founding his own company in Northern Maine with his wife Enid. Both Jeff and Jim were taught at an early age to appreciate every customer, and treat them like a "King". Today, Dayâ??s operates six stores throughout New England. The new owners combined skills and knowledge from the "old" Dayâ??s with modern technology. This change was accomplished without sacrificing the exceptional personal customer service, fine quality, and low prices that have been the reason for Dayâ??s success for over 90 years. We have carried on the proud tradition of the Davidsonsâ??. Dayâ??s has also been voted "Best Jeweler" by Market Surveys of America, multiple times throughout all of our locations. Dan and Bre met in the summer of 2003 while they both were servers at The Ground Round restaurant in Auburn. Dan was a photography student studying at the University of Maine at Augusta, and Bre was a student at Gordon College in Wenham, MA, studying English Language and Literature. Dan graduated in 2004 and Bre graduated in 2005. They married in 2006 and had their handsome son Joshua in November of 08. Photography at the time was a hobby and quickly turned into a full-time job so in the spring of 2010, Dan Allard Photography, Co. was established and they have been busy with proms, school portraits, High School Senior Portraits and a SOLD OUT 2010 Wedding Season and much more! They hope to continue providing professional and affordable photography services for many more years to come.
