Sacha Vaughn was born and raised in Brooklyn, New York. To a father with a Jamaica, West Indies background and a mother with a South Carolina background. It’s no wonder that Ms. Vaughn can incorporate American and Island style events for her customers.
As a young child Sacha always had a vivid imagination. She would make up these elaborate ideas in her head. Her parents would think that something was wrong with her not knowing that this was Sacha’s way of taping into her creative side. As a teenager in high school living with her dad and cousins Sacha and her cousins would throw house parties with her aunt and dads permission. Sacha knew how to organize these events so well for herself, family and friends. By the time she was sixteen years old she wanted to have her own sweet sixteen. Instead of having her parents organize the party for her, Sacha was in the middle of it all.
Back then her parents could not afford to hire an event planner so Sacha was ecstatic to do it myself. Her party was everything she wanted it to be for a sixteen year old. She had a valentine’s day themed party due to Sacha’s birthday is on Valentine’s Day. Everything was red, hearts, silver and sparkly. Then Sacha started hanging out with DJ’s and going to parties just to see what was the new and hip thing to do at a party. She would take these events that she would go to and think about what she would do different. Or what she thought she would do if it was an event that she was planning. Finally by the time Sacha was 18 years old and graduating from high school she saw another opportunity to use her imagination. Sacha wanted to give herself and her classmates a prom to remember. The high school that she went to every year the students opted out of having a prom. Sacha was determined not to let this happen with her graduating class. So she became president of the prom committee and was the only member of her prom committee. So the assistant principal told her here is the budget. And here is the venue you do the rest if you think you can pull it off.
So she met with the venue manager to confirm the date, picked out the food, linens, flatware, glasses and plates. She was able to book a photographer to set up as the guest would arrive to the venue. She picked out glasses as favors for all of the students. The venue even let her sample the cake and food that would be served at the event. Good thing for her hanging with DJs she was able to book the music for her and her graduating class right away. This would also be the first time that her school would have a prom king and queen. Even though the students were like I can’t believe you are planning a prom for this school. They were acting as if they didn’t want to participate in the celebration. Then about four months from the actual date the students started to RSVP that they were going to attend. To her surprise it was the entire graduating class. The entire school staff was impressed that she was able to pull it off and give her graduating class a prom that they will always remember. After graduating Sacha went off to college and didn’t pursue event planning she thought she would become a teacher and open a daycare. At this time in her life Sacha didn’t know that there was such thing as having a career as an event planner. So she would help friends and family plan there events for different occasion. From, birthdays, anniversaries, sweet sixteen’s, graduations, baby showers, etc.
Then Sacha had an opportunity to help plan a friend’s wedding. After the wedding was over the couples family and friends that did not know Sacha thought that the couple hired a professional event planner. They all wanted to know who it was they told them that Sacha had done it all. People where telling her that she needed to do it professionally maybe even start a business. So she took their advice and in roles IEWP (International Event and Wedding Professionals). She has been doing event planning for 10 years and continues to treat every event like something new and makes everyone dream event a reality.
